Brand Imagery
- The Maguey plant, is beautiful yet rugged, and ancient yet discoverable. This duality is where we thrive. In the modern world concepts such as masculine and feminine are becoming blurred; more nuanced and broad. Del Maguey seeks to explore a wide spectrum of artistic imagery with juxtapositions that allow us to create new meaning, inspire us to challenge emotions, and push boundaries. In our world the complexity must be conveyed with both the yin and the yang.
- Vibrant Color: Our brand is alive with the vibrant colors of the art and soul of Oaxaca.
- Green Walls: Del Maguey’s signature green bottle is an inspiration and we use the color liberally. Green represents not only our physical bottles but is also symbolic of our sustainable practices.
- Artistic Voices: Our brand was created by artists and is made by artisans. Art with a powerful voice is key to our identity.
- Visual Tension: Masculine and feminine, dangerous and calming, strong and beautiful -Del Maguey plays with the visual tension of seemingly opposing forces.
- Rugged Beauty: Like our villages our images are gritty and adventurous, but gorgeous.
- Off-angle: We love the happenstance and natural but unexpected angles that paint a picture of realism.
- Naturalism: Reality documented with an artist’s eye -we leave the expected images of workers in the field in favor or a more intimate representation of modern Oaxaca with a gritty, curated realism.
- Strong Individuality: The power of individual expression, adventure, challenges and dreams are our fuel.
- The brand should always use vibrant colors to reflect a brave, risk-taking attitude without being psychedelic and unnatural.
- Garish and Neon < Full and Alive

Window Display Guidelines
- Del Maguey Single Village® Mezcal is known for its trademarked emerald-green bottles. It’s an essential trait of our product. The iconic nature of the color makes it paramount that all photography presents the green in its best possible rendition. If this is not done correctly, the bottle can appear dark, lack life and energy, and become less appealing. Several things must be considered when photographing in available light or using artificial light. Backlighting the bottles, or choosing lighter backgrounds to accentuate the green, brings the emerald green to life. When possible, backlighting should be used with great care to give life to the trademarked emerald green of our bottles. However, if the backlight is too direct and hard, the backlight can transmit through the labels, altering the color in unacceptable ways and causing hotspots. Backlight can also create undesirable shadowing caused by the label on the backside of the bottle. To avoid this, do not use hard backlight at angles shot from higher or lower than the label. When the lens is at the level of the label, there is no concern for black shadowing. Frontal flash can be used to fill in and balance the backlight. Be careful to place the flash high overhead or at or near the label level, as the bottle will reflect the spectral highlight of the flash, which is undesirable. Rear or side flash can be used to accentuate the emerald green, but exercise caution due to the same concerns from the natural hard backlight.
- Use vibrant colors from DM brand color palette being careful to choose colors that complement the green bottle and label art. Light from behind and the front to feature green bottle color and label art equally. Use backgrounds that feel like high end or stylish bars, Oaxacan environments, etc. Photograph bottles in real locations as much as possible. Keep depth-of-field minimal or use distance to separate bottles from background. Show bottle being held and Copitas being used to share. Use PMS 361 C green in backgrounds to create Green Walls.
- Composite bottles over DM Green PMS 361 C without retouching to be sure green bottle does NOT appear clear. Place artwork, pattens, or colors that compete with label art behind bottles. Photograph from angles looking down or place bottle on surfaces that appear dirty or unsanitary. Use sterile locations such as studio white eye. Show from angles that obscure or distort the bottle branding. Allow light spill to discolor the label art. Use excessive grain that will muddy the label art.

Advertising And Marketing Legal Guidelines
- The Responsible Drinking Message (“RDM”) [e.g., Please Drink Responsibly] must appear on all marketing communications. It must be prominent and placed horizontally in the communication.
- The height of the RDM letters should be 1/100 the sum of the width and the height of the advertisement (i.e., [length units+ height units]/100).
- Although the RDM and Advertising Mandatory usually appear together, the RDM can be separate from the Advertising Mandatory to achieve prominence. RDM text should be in a contrasting color to the background, to ensure conspicuous visibility.
- While a generic RDM is permitted, some brands prefer to convey the RDM in their own voice, such as “Sip Easy. Enjoy Malibu Responsibly”.
- The required elements of the Mandatory include: • Brand name in all caps (e.g. DEL MAGUEY SINGLE VILLAGE® MEZCAL). • Specific type of distilled spirit (e.g., Artisanal Mezcal) • Alcohol by volume statement, expressed as XX% Alc./Vol. • Copyright date year (e.g. © 2023) • Producer, manufacturer, or trade name of the responsible advertiser and address • (e.g., Imported by Del Maguey Co., New York, NY) • Country of origin (e.g. Product of Mexico)
- When an advertisement refers to a range or line (2 or more) of distilled spirits or wine products, or if space is truly limited (such as in a banner ad), the only mandatory information required is the (1) the copyright date and (2) the name and location of the responsible advertiser.
- Ensure all media follows trade practice laws (i.e. proper retailer lists, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with PR/DISCUS Code.
- Obtain proper permissions for trademarks, copyright, and rights of publicity, as applicable. Always obtain rights to use image and likeness of anyone included in media.
- Ensure no suggestion of overconsumption; • Show responsible pours. • One copita/serving per person. • Use parts for recipes. • Do not show excessively large glasses that suggest more than a single serving. Cannot include branded content (i.e.no bar names/logos)
- All media must be approve by PR Brand Manager
- Must include #ad on all influencer sponsored.
- Must include RDM and Mandatories on any paid post.
- The asset must include a Forwarding Advice Notice “FAN” (in addition to the RDM & mandatories): For written assets add: “Please don’t share with anyone under the legal drinking age.” (If space is limited, you use a shortened version; e.g., “For 21+ only”).
- For video assets, the first frame must read: “This material relates to the promotion of alcohol and should not be viewed by anyone below the legal age of alcohol purchase in the country of viewing.”
